Pumpkins, apples, candy corn oh my! There are countless things to do with the kids this fall season, here are some of my favorite!
Autumn is in full swing and the weather is perfect for kids to play outside and as a family and to go to fun fall events in the town. Because this is one of my favorite seasons I’ve decided to share some activities I think your kids will love and you as a parent can enjoy as well!
Some parents may have nightmares at the thought of having your kids help as you bake, but it’s actually not as bad as you may think! Most kids would love to help with anything they can. Days before shopping for the ingredients ask your kids what flavor they would like to bake their pie, and as you’re in the store buy cookie cutters in the shape of pumpkins, leaves, and other fall items. Have them place the cutters on the dough to place on top of the pie as decorations. As soon as your pie bakes, they will feel accomplished and excited to eat the pie they helped “bake.”
Since we are in Florida we have the luxury to drive to the nearest farm where they do have apples. You can dress your kids in fall clothing and even do a small photo shoot with them. If you can’t find an apple farm near you, gather your closest friends and their kids and have an apple bobbing party. Buy apples place water in a bucket and play games with kids of who can gather the most apples. Kids love competitions and games with their friends so I know they will love this!
This is one of my favorite things to do from the fall! Pumpkin picking is already so fun because you get to choose from hundreds of pumpkins and bring them home. I like letting them choose which one they would like to take home and it’s always so fun to see what they consider a good enough pumpkin candidate to bring home and carve. Pumpkins don’t always have to be scary have fun with them and carve silly faces. If you think carving is too messy you can always paint them.
Eat Candy Corn
I love candy corn. They look cute and taste so good. Have a family night and watch a Halloween movie. We love Hotel Transylvania 2, it’s so funny and not too scary for the kids. If you still have some pie left that would go great for this night as well.
I love this season because that means the holidays are near, and holidays always consist of family time and a lot of fun kids activities. What are your plans for the fall?
