Back to school snack ideas for adults are necessary when keeping up with our kids’ day to day activities. Here are five of my favorite snacks I know you will love!
For us parents, back to school also means back to the hectic schedules! Between classes, field trips, sports practices, and after school clubs for the kids there’s not much downtime, for either of you. You don’t want to get so caught up in the day to day that suddenly you find yourself starving. So let’s make sure you’re snacking between drop offs and meetings, to keep yourself fueled up and ready to take on the day. I’m sharing a couple of wholesome, smart snack ideas for adults, with some key ingredients you probably already have on hand!
Sargento Natural Cheese Snacks
Cheese, of course, it’s delicious, but another benefit is the punch of protein. Protein is what’s going to keep you feeling satisfied and fueled when you’re on the go! Sargento Natural Cheese Snacks have 4 to 8 grams of protein per serving, and are a natural source of protein that’s more protein than a serving of almonds or a hard-boiled egg. Plus, adults AND kids can have some fun peeling their string cheese snack. Who doesn’t love a fun snack?
Fresh Fruits and Berries
Another snack must have is fruit. The more variety, the better. It’s a better option to help satisfy your sweet tooth. And fruit is an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants. Pair fruit and cheese together and I am officially in snack heaven! I love this combo because it’s that perfect blend of savory and sweet. Now here are some of my favorite ways to get creative.
Berry Cheese Crunch Snack
The berry cheese crunch snack is a simple, smart combination of about a half cup of fresh blackberries, a quarter cup of granola and one Sargento natural string cheese snack. Again, one string of cheese packs 8 grams of protein, berries add some sweetness and antioxidants and add a granola for that crunch! I use mozzarella, but you’ve got 14 varieties to choose from, including Reduced Fat Colby-Jack, Sharp Cheddar, and Pepper Jack.
Overnight Oats and Fruit
Another great idea is overnight oats! It’s not just a breakfast thing. You can make your oats as savory or sweet as you like by switching up your mix-ins. Use a small mason jar for easy grab and go, and the protein in steel cut oats helps keep you feeling full. Your basic recipe is always 1/4 cup steel cut oats and 1 cup milk of your choice and then add your mix-ins. I like bananas, peanut powder, and cinnamon. Pop it in the fridge and the next day it’s ready to enjoy! Kids love these too, my son Jack likes to help mix them up.
Turkey Apple Cheese Snack
And here’s one more smart snack combo for you that I love – a turkey apple cheese snack. Have you ever paired cheese and apples? So delicious! I like to use the sharp cheddar cheese snack- which has 5 grams of protein per serving. And we can amp up the protein even more by wrapping it with a slice of turkey breast! Keep it in place with a toothpick and you’re done.
Pack yourself a wholesome snack and roll through your day. And let your little ones help you put them together to save time and score some “cool points” for setting them up with a tasty snack, too!
